Romanian

Etymology

Uncertain. Its name may be derived from Hungarian *Bozó, from Old Church Slavonic *Бъзовъ (*Bŭzovŭ, [river] of the elderberries), from бъзъ (bŭzŭ, elderberry). However, the Slavic name might be an adaptation via folk etymology of earlier Ancient Greek Μουσεος (Mouseos), from a Paleo-Balkan language.
