Etymology

Originally two settlements; recorded as Campeseia and Esce in 1086 (DB), from Old English camp + ēg, and æsc (ash). This later became Campsey Ash, as noted below.

Usage notes

The Ordnance Survey uses the spelling Campsey Ash for the civil parish, which was the old spelling for the village.
