Catalan Countries

  1. A cultural region in Western Europe where Catalan is spoken: Catalonia, the Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands, the Aragon Strip and Carche (in Spain); Northern Catalonia (in France); Alghero (on the island of Sardinia in Italy); and the independent country of Andorra.
  2. A name given to the country that will be formed in a hypothetical and independent political union of all Catalan-speaking regions.
