From Ancient Greek κηκῐ́ς / κηκῖδος (kēkĭ́s / kēkîdos, “ooze, goo”) + Psylla (type genus of the Psylloidea).
Coined by French naturalist and entomologist Jean-Jacques Kieffer in 1905.
