Christ on a bike

  1. A humorous variation of the exclamation "Christ alive" or "Christ" or "Jesus Christ". Usually an expression of surprise, shock, exasperation etc.
    Synonym: Christ on a bike and Mary on the handlebars
    • 1937, Sonya Schulberg, They Cried a Little, page 66:
      "Christ on a bike," Joan growled, brushing past Mary and into her room.
    • 2008, Guy Pratt, My Bass and Other Animals:
      I once did a video for Daryl Hall where we had to spend fourteen hours doing it again and again because one of the dancers couldn't dance, but kept insisting he could, and everyone believed him. Christ on a bike.
