De Wopereis
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as wapenreyse in 1460. Etymology uncertain. A compound of Middle Dutch *wapen (“stagnant water, swamp”) and reis (“elevated place”) is unlikely because of a lack of attestations of the components. Compare Wapenveld.
