Diogo
Portuguese
Etymology
The Portuguese equivalent of Spanish Diego, from Old Galician-Portuguese Diago, from Latin Didacus. The change from -a- to -o- in Portuguese is irregular, and has been explained as avoiding homonymy with Diago < diaconus.
