Etymology

From Dogri डोगरा (ḍogrā), from Sanskrit द्विगर्त (dvigarta). The script was officially referred to as Sanskrit द्विगर्त अक्षर (dvigarta akṣara, Dogra letters). Another indigenous name for the script is Dogri [script needed] (dogra akkharor, New Dogra letters).
