Usage notes
- Historically especially during the 20th century, this term was used to describe and encompass both Chinese Filipinos (with Filipino nationality) and Chinese nationals in the Philippines who had not yet attained Filipino nationality such as those with permanent residency among first-generation Chinese migrants from either ROC, British Hong Kong, Portuguese Macau, PRC, although it is also interchangeable with Chinese-Filipino.
