- Hróir, shortened from Hróðvér, from *Hróþiwíhar, *Hrōþiwīhaz, from Hrod (from hróðr (“fame, praise”)) + vér (“fighter”) (from the verb vega (“to fight”)).
- Hróði, shortened from *Hrōþa, a variant of the above.
