Kings Draw (plural Kings Draws)

  1. (chess, informal) A game state where both players have only their kings remaining, resulting in a draw due to insufficient mating material.

Usage notes

Used informally to describe a mutual endgame with no possible checkmate. Symbolic of balance, exhaustion, or peaceful resolution. Sometimes contrasted with Kings Solitude, where only one king remains against a dominant opponent. Alternative form: Kings Solitude (when used in a different context).
