Late Middle Egyptian

1. (linguistics, history) The phase of the Egyptian language characterized by Middle Egyptian sentence structure and orthography but occasional use of Late Egyptian vocabulary and forms.
2. (linguistics, history) Synonym of Neo-Middle Egyptian.

While some authors conflate Late Middle Egyptian and Neo-Middle Egyptian, the two terms are carefully distinguished by other Egyptologists (Junge, Kammerzell, etc.).
