Etymology

From Hebrew ליכודניק \ לִכּוּדְנִיק (likúdnik).

Formed from Likud (literally “consolidation”, name of the Israeli party) + the agent-noun suffix -nik. The suffix -nik is itself from Russian -nik, as in Sputnik, and influenced by Yiddish -nik (agent suffix). Compare with beatnik, peacenik, refusenik, etc.
