- A taxonomic genus within the family Lymnaeidae – the pond snails, large-sized air-breathing freshwater snails.
Usage notes
- As genetic research indicates that the genus is polyphyletic, the existing definition is likely to become obsolete. The name may be given a new definition, ie, circumscription.
