Etymology
From micro- (“small”, from Ancient Greek μῑκρός (mīkrós)) + Ancient Greek πηδητικός (pēdētikós, “pedetic; good at leaping or springing”, usually epithetic to certain insects).
Coined by entomologist Michael Stiller in 2009.
