Moerslag

Dutch

Etymology

First attested as moerselo and morslo in 1390. Likely a compound of Middle Dutch mors (land next to water, marshland, pasture) and lo (light forest, pool). The second element was gradually reinterpreted as slag (division of lands to be converted to farmland). Compare Moorsel.
