Etymology

A word found only in western Moselle Franconian (besides Luxembourg chiefly Saarland, Trier, Bitburg). Surely of onomatopoeic origin, comparable to German quak, English croak. Compare also Luxembourgish moukeg (“mopish, grumpy”).
