Etymology
From Ancient Greek νομᾰ́ς / νομᾰ́δος (nomắs / nomắdos), possibly through Latin nomas / nomadis, both later developing the meaning "nomad", to which the suffix of -a was appended, to create a feminine equivalent of the noun.
