Oud Beets
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as beke in 1315. Borrowed from West Frisian Ald Beets, derived in turn from âld (“old”) and Old Frisian bitze (“brook, stream”). The element âld was added to distinguish the settlement from Nij Beets.
