Proto-Bodish

Etymology

Compare Chinese (OC /*ɢʷ(r)a/ (B-S)).

Verb

*(gʷ)ra

  1. to come

Reconstruction notes

  • Bodt stops at a "Proto-East-Bodish" *ra.[1] But since Hill (2019) identified Tibetan འགྲོ ('gro) as cognate to Kurtöp (ra), it must be reconstructed to the Proto-Bodish level.
  • Note that outside of Tibetic, the labiovelar has gone missing.

Descendants

  • Tibetic
    • Sherpa: འགྲོ ('gro)
    • Tibetan: འགྲོ ('gro)
  • Dakpa-Dzala
    • Dakpa: (ra)
    • Dzala: (ra)
