Reconstruction:Proto-Brythonic/drüw
Proto-Brythonic
Etymology
From Proto-Celtic *druwits. By itself, Celtic *druwits should have given *druw, as final i-affection did not affect u. In the original oblique stem *druwid-, however, internal i-affection occurred, which did affect u. The oblique stem was generalised to the nominative singular before the loss of final syllables. Compare also *süw.
