Etymology 1

From Proto-Uralic *-pta, *-ptak (abessive suffix).

Probably from Proto-Finno-Permic *-kta.

Unknown. One possibility, however remote, is that these derive as zero-derived deverbals from *-ttadak verbs. A similar morpheme indicating place names can also be found in Proto-Samic *-ttëk.
