Proto-Finnic
Etymology
Unknown. Possibly borrowed from Proto-Balto-Slavic [Term?] (whence Lithuanian vingiorykštė, vangarykštė). Another theory (by EVE) posits a borrowing from a hypothetical Proto-Norse [script needed] (*angan-wahstuʀ) (from [script needed] (*angan-, “fragrance, smell”) + [script needed] (*wahstuʀ, “plant”)).[1]
Noun
*angër-[2]
