Etymology

Unknown. Cognate with Proto-Samic *tuovkōtēk (whence Northern Sami duovgut), suggesting earlier *tawka-w-, with +‎ *-t'ak. *taugët'ak may represent a parallel derivative without an intermediate *-w- (i.e. directly from *tawka-).
