Reconstruction:Proto-Indo-Iranian/nadíH
Proto-Indo-Iranian
Etymology
Possibly from Proto-Indo-European *ned-íh₂, from *ned- (“thundering, roaring, rushing”) + *-íh₂. Lubotsky connects it to Ancient Greek Νέδα (Néda, name of a river), Middle Low German Nette (name of a river). For other derivatives from the same root, see Sanskrit नद् (nad, “to resound”).
Noun
*nadíH f[1]
