Reconstruction:Proto-Naish/Cko ŋgu
Proto-Naish
Etymology
A compound of *Cko (“head”) and the reflex of Proto-Sino-Tibetan *mV-kum (“pillow”).
Noun
*Cko ŋgu
Reconstruction notes
These Naish terms are collected together in the STEDT.
Both Naxi and Laze have irregular vowel reflexes. Laze's /u/ can be attributed to assimilation to the vowel of "head", while Naxi /ɯ/ can be assumed to have been caused by unrounding of *u to *i at some proto-stage.
