Reconstruction:Proto-Naish/jaɣ
Proto-Naish
Etymology
Li provides two exclusive sets of comparisons that cannot be linked to each other:
- From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *jaŋ, cognate to Japhug qaʑo. This fits the initial /j/ better and better accounts for the /o/ in Narua. Lidz also follows this derivation.
- Li also compares Tibetan ལུག (lug), but it is incompatible with any other comparandum.
Noun
*jaɣ
Reconstruction notes
Li reports a vowel /u/ in Na, but Lexica's dictionary actually has /o/.
