Reconstruction:Proto-Naish/pal kwe
Proto-Naish
Etymology
A compound of *pal (“frog”). Li compares the second element to Tibetan ལྕོང (lcong, “tadpole”).
Noun
*pal kwe
Reconstruction notes
- Note that for some reason, there is a discrepancy in transcribing the second syllable in Na; the Lexica dictionary has /ɯ/ as the second vowel in Na, but Li has /i/.
- Li does not record the basic form beji in Na, instead recording the further compound beji bemi. The Lexika dictionary confirms that simple beji in fact exists.
