Proto-Sino-Tibetan

Reconstruction

  • Proto-Sino-Tibetan:
    • Proto-Tibeto-Burman: *m/s-gaw (STEDT)

The reconstruction of -ow instead of -aw is based on Tangkhulic. *aw is also not reconstructible if Chinese (hòu) is to be connected here, since Old Chinese preserved inherited *aw.

The uvular must be reconstructed based on West rGyalrongic. Japhug had some sort of de-uvularization occur in its reflex. For more information, see Gong (2020).[1]

Noun

*mV-qow

  1. head
    Synonym: *tV-pu
