A wanderword from a non-Indo-European language, perhaps originally substrate.[1] Compare Lithuanian sidãbras, Latvian sidrabs, sudrabs, Old Prussian sirablan, and to the west, Proto-Germanic *silubrą, Basque zilar, and Proto-Berber *a-ẓrəf.
