Etymology
From *müi- + *-kī. Relationship to Proto-Mongolic *mogaï (“snake”) (whence Mongolian могой (mogoj)) is unclear.
Accoring to Doerfer, this word has no connections with *mirkü- (“to creep”), as preserved in Negidal мӣхи- (mīxi-, “to creep”) and Udihe мики- (miki-, “to creep”).
