Etymology
The original stem may have been *bür-, which preserved in Kazakh бүру (büru, “to grasp prey (of an eagle)”). Or a back formation hypothesis *bürküt > *bür-.
Also compared to Proto-Tungusic *muri (“eagle”), whence in Evenki мури (muri) (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
