Voorste Diesdonk

Dutch

Etymology

First attested as Voorste Diesdonk in 1838-1857. Derived from voorste (forwardmost) and a compound toponym composed of an unclear first element (perhaps related to dialectal dies (fog, mist)) and donk (sandy hill protruding above a swamp). The element voorste was added to distinguish the settlement from Achterste Diesdonk.
