Wijtgaard
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as wytghardera ny land in 1485. Borrowed from West Frisian Wytgaard, potentially derived in turn from a compound of Old Frisian wīt (“white”) and garda (“garden”) or, alternatively, from a surname and werd (“artificial mound used for habitation”). Compare Bilgaard.
