Yunanlı
Turkish
Alternative forms
Etymology
From Yunan (“Greek”) + -lı (suffix forming demonyms).
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /ju.nɑnˈlɯ/
- Hyphenation: Yu‧nan‧lı
Adjective
Yunanlı
Proper noun
Yunanlı
Usage notes
- Erroneously formed demonym, as if Yunan (“Greek”) was a toponym. Although not proscribed, there are many speakers who are in favor of the use of Greek. See also Hintli (“Indian”).
- Isn't inflected using an apostrophe as opposed to Yunan because of -lı which normally derives new lemmas.
