From aero- (or the Irish aer) + board, or from a company of a similar name which manufactures polystyrene insulation products in Ireland.[1]

Usage notes

The word is generally used in Ireland as a synonym for polystyrene insulation,[2] but can also be used to mean Styrofoam.
