From Proto-Bantu *màjíjɪ̀.

amazzi (class V, plural only, base state mazzi)
- water
- Omwana anywa amazzi buli lunaku. ― The child drinks water every day.
- Buli ku makya nnaaba amaaso n’amazzi. ― Every morning I wash my face with water.
- (colloquial, metonymic, euphemistic) liquor, in particular beer
- Yakombye amazzi. ― He drank a lot of beer. (literally, “He lapped up water.”)
