Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Albanian *abula, from Proto-Indo-European *n̥bʰel-, from *nébʰos (cloud).[1] Closely related to Messapic atabulus. Compare Latin nebula (mist, cloud), Old English nifol (mist, darkness), Ancient Greek νεφέλη (nephélē). Compare also Romanian abur.
