Etymology
Inherited from Sanskrit भरति (bhárati). Cognate with Maharastri Prakrit 𑀪𑀭𑀇 (bharaï), Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀪𑀭𑀤𑀺 (bharadi). Related to bharaṇa, bharita. Possibly partly a doublet of harati, which is far commoner, and compare the reduction of bhavati to hoti.

bharati (root bhar)
