biphosphate (plural biphosphates)

  1. (inorganic chemistry) Any salt of phosphoric acid in which only one of the hydrogen atom has been replaced by a metal ion.
  2. (organic chemistry) Synonym of diphosphate.

Usage notes

Do not confuse a biphosphate with a bisphosphonate, nor a diphosphate with a diphosphonate.
