Etymology
From the plural form of Proto-Somaloid *bice- (“water”).[1] Only found in Lowland East Cushitic from *bikee-,[2] perhaps an old borrowing from Southern Nilotic, compare Nandi beek (“water”).[3]
Cognate with Rendille biche, Aweer bi, Baiso beke, Arbore biče, Daasanach bie, El Molo pice, Oromo bishaan, Khonso pishaa, Bussa pishe.
