Romanian

Etymology

Probably from a Vulgar Latin root *carrāre, from Latin carrus. Compare Sardinian carrare. Other Romance cognates seem to have come from a root *carriāre. Compare French charrier (Anglo-French carier, whence came English carry), charroyer, Occitan carrejar, Spanish acarrear, Italian carreggiare, Neapolitan carreare, Sicilian carriari.
