capixaba
Portuguese
Etymology
Borrowed from Old Tupi capixaba (“corn hair”). It may refer to the impression that native peoples had of blonde Europeans, or to the corn plantations near Vitória. (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
The term originally referred to natives of Vitória only, but the sense later expanded to mean natives of the whole state.
