cefël

Etymology

Uncertain. Meyer derives it from new Greek τσέφλι (tséfli), which is somehow supported by the territorial distribution in southern Tosk. But the vocalic alteration e:i in cefël:cifël (splinter), and especially in cufël (snowflake) in Gheg make it doubtful.[1] Furthermore, τσέφλι (tséfli) and τσόφλι (tsófli) themselves remain with unknown source.[2]
