From centraliz(ēt) (“to centralize”) +‎ -ācija (with centralizēt from centrāls (“central”) +‎ -izēt, and centrāls from centrs (“center”) +‎ -āls. Clearly not formed as such in Latvian, but borrowed and adapted from some other European language.
