   • 29 BCE – 19 BCE, Virgil, Aeneid 8.445:

     Fluit aes rīvīs aurīque metallum, vulnificusque chalybs vastā fornāce liquēscit.

     Bronze and golden ore flowed in streams, and steel, that deals wounds, melted in a vast furnace.
