Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Athabaskan *tšʳədžʳ (dry wood, firewood)[1]. Cognate with Western Apache chizh, Chipewyan tsez, Beaver chvch, Carrier tsez, Sekani tsvz, Ahtna tsets.

Distantly cognate with Ket өксь m (ōksʲ, tree; stick, twig).
