  1. (grammar, of a verb) Inflected to express plea, insistence, imploring, self-encouragement, wish, desire, intent, command, purpose, or consequence.
  2. Encouraging.

Usage notes

The cohortative mood is similar to the jussive mood, except that it applies only to verbs in the first person. Although the cohortative mood is absent from English, it is present in Hebrew.
