Etymology

From Old Irish cóicthiges, apparently a compound of cóic (five) and deich (ten); compare Welsh pythefnos (fortnight, literally fifteen nights) and Breton pemzektez (fortnight, literally fifteen days).[2] Cognate with Manx kegeesh.
