Etymology

From Old Irish cóicthiges, apparently a compound of cóic (“five”) and deich (“ten”); compare Welsh pythefnos (“fortnight”, literally “fifteen nights”) and Breton pemzektez (“fortnight”, literally “fifteen days”).[2] Cognate with Manx kegeesh.
