Etymology

First attested as ëndiglonj in Buzuku, borrowed from Vulgar Latin intellegō (to understand, perceive),[1][2][3] with metathesis of the -l- and -g- and many other phonological distortions in dialects, with the predominant form ultimately phonologically contaminated with gjoj (to hear).
